Summary: This position is responsible for aggregating utility meter reads, preparing Village utility bills, processing payments, and customer service. Some other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions: An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples are not all inclusive and as the employee’s skills and abilities develop, the employee may be asked to perform other duties. To succeed, the employee will need to be able learn and perform each function satisfactorily. Under the direction of the Village Manager, this employee will be expected to:
Implement the accounting system via the utility billing module of BS&A billing software and maintain the development and review of accounting procedures.
Prepares financial and utility reports as necessary.
Gathers and provides data to consultants creating utility rate structures, and implements rate changes as needed.
Assists auditors and other consultants by providing data and responding to inquiries.
Assists utility customers who contact the Village by phone, email and in person, providing excellent customer service in a professional manner.
Maintain utility data for all locations using Village utility services and record changes involving utilities.
Prepare and send utility bills in a timely manner.
Facilitate the utility shut off process for delinquent accounts, including interaction with public services crews and customers. Work with third party organizations who provide assistance to customers with delinquent accounts.
Responsible for using and maintaining accurate records of utility usage and payments within the BS&A Utility Billing Module.
Keep customer account information accurate and up to date for all customer utility accounts, including residential, commercial and industrial.
Assist customers with account creation, termination or transfer. Accounts include utility accounts, refuse accounts and township sewer accounts.
Work together with the public services department to enter, complete and maintain all work orders generated at Village Hall.
Develop and maintain an understanding of utility accounts, rates, policies and related information in order to help customers understand their bills and accounts.
Qualifications: Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in office management.
Salary Range:
This is a full-time union position with a salary range of $24.00-$28.00 depending on qualifications. Full benefits package including MERS defined benefit pension.
