Key Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive evaluations of assigned patients and develop individualized treatment plans and goals focused on progressing patients toward discharge within an established length of stay.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address all barriers to discharge, including equipment trialing and ordering, patient and family training, home exercise program issuance, and planning for continuing services.
- Manage individual, concurrent, and group treatment sessions efficiently based on patient care needs, ensuring the plan of care is communicated and progressed throughout the length of stay.
- Complete accurate and timely medical record documentation including daily notes, goal writing, functional quality indicator assessments, letters of medical necessity, discharge documentation, and charge entry in compliance with state, federal, and intermediary guidelines.
- Participate in student programs as assigned, providing appropriate supervision, developing learning objectives, and completing student evaluations.
- Adhere to the state Practice Act and all regulatory requirements, maintain professional licensure in good standing, and actively pursue continuing education and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Physical Therapist license in the state of Florida.
- Experience in inpatient rehabilitation or acute care physical therapy.
- Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive patient evaluations and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
- Knowledge of and compliance with state, federal, and payer-specific documentation and billing requirements.
- Commitment to patient and employee safety standards, including safe patient handling and infection control practices.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring Physical Therapy students in a clinical setting.
- Familiarity with performance improvement methodologies and quality initiatives in a hospital environment.
- Involvement in professional organizations or community advocacy efforts related to physical therapy.
