Description
Job DescriptionWe are currently looking to fill a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) position at American Express. This individual will support financial analysis and modelling on a wide range of critical business initiatives regarding our consumer and commercial businesses in Hong Kong. This position will be based full-time out of our Hong Kong office.
Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of business drivers and investment opportunities to support decision-making
- Support and manage components of month-end closing, forecasting and budgeting process. Analyze and explain the variance between budgeted and actual financial results
- Perform in-depth financial analyses, manage assigned business initiatives, and provide actionable recommendations to support business growth and decision-making
- Maintain and enhance existing financial models and support model development with technological tools
- Partner independently with stakeholders across Marketing, Risk, Central Finance, Controllership, and other functions to support business initiatives, provide financial insights, and ensure initiatives meet internal standards
- Create meeting materials and presentation decks as needed
- Collaborate across markets in order to share insights and best practices
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, or related disciplines preferred
- 5+ years of experience in financial planning & analysis, forecasting, banking, financial services, or other relevant industries.
- Experience with architecting integrated models from scratch in Excel or other applications is preferred, as is knowledge of AI adoption
- Hands-on experience with any programming language (e.g., TM1, VBA, SQL, SAS, Power BI) is a definitive advantage
- Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills. Good verbal and written communication skills in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
- Comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization
- Prior experience with lending products or the lending industry is preferred but not required
- Professional credentials such as a CPA/CPA/M.Sc. degree are advantageous

- Contribute to a highly collaborative team environment and work effectively across international markets and time zones.
*Candidates with less experience who demonstrate strong analytical capability and learning agility may be considered for the Financial Analyst level.
